The production

The Moon Arts Film Festival, now in its sixth edition, promoted by Moon Arts, a production active for over 10 years in the cultural and audiovisual field as an organizer of festivals, cultural activities in general and production of international audiovisual works (feature films, short films, music videos, record albums and commercials).

It takes place in Sardinia between the cities of Cagliari and Quartu Sant'Elena and concerns in particular short film works and music videos that stand out for their social, artistic, technical and communicative value and content. In previous editions, among others, works by authors who boast participation and recognition at the most prestigious Film Festivals have been screened including the Mostra del Cinema di Venezia, the David di Donatello, the Torino Film Festival and other national and international ones.

The aims

The aims of the event are:

  • the promotion of audiovisual works of high social, cultural and artistic value produced and created in every part of the world
  • raising awareness from the youngest age groups to the oldest
  • attracting the general public and tourists, and the meeting between operators in the film industry

The Moon Arts Film Festival aims to ensure that the public becomes an active part, leading them to think and engage with works by international and local authors.

The works in competition must have been produced since 2020 onwards and are divided into 4 categories:

Fiction Short Films

including Animation films (maximum duration 30 minutes)

Documentary Short Films

including Animation Documentaries (maximum duration 30 minutes)

Music Videos

including Animation Music Videos (maximum duration 10 minutes)

Smartphone Short Films

including Smartphone Films (maximum duration 30 minutes)

Presentations, screenings or previews of films out of competition of any length are also planned.

All the films that will pass the pre-selections, will be judged by a technical-artistic committee of the festival. The prizes and awards will be announced on the last day of the festival.

Special Mentions at the Discrection of the Jury

1 – Free theme or subject;
2 – All submitted works must have been made after 2020;
3 – Fiction and documentary short films (including animated films) must have a maximum running time of 30 minutes;
4 – Music videos (including animation films) must have a maximum running time of 10 minutes;
5 – Short films made with smartphones must have a maximum running time of 30 minutes;

6 – The Festival accepts submissions from all over the world. Short films in Italian must be subtitled in English. Short films not in Italian must be subtitled in English or Italian;
7 – Only one short film can be submitted per entry fee: multiple short films require multiple entry fees;
8 – Producers and/or authors (or their delegates) and/or applicants for submissions to the Moon Arts Film Festival are solely responsible for managing the copyright on the materials submitted to the festival. The Moon Arts Film Festival is in no way responsable for any infringement of such rights;
9 – By submitting your work to the Moon Arts Film Festival, you grant us the right to screen your film in front of a live audience;
10 – By submitting your work to the Moon Arts Film Festival, you grant us the right, for the purpose of promoting the festival, to use portions or images of your work through our online channels, social media, press releases, posters and in the media in general;
11 – Submissions to the Festival online must be made via a dowloadable format (for example a Vimeo link that allow both viewing and downloading);
12 – The judgment of the jurors for the selections, official recognitions and special mentions is final;
13 – The Festival reserves the right to include, at any time, a cash prize for one or more finalist;
14 – The festival may refuse to accept a work for reason of discrepancy with the spirit of the Festival: racial, ethnic, national, or gender intolerance, violence, pornography, etc;
15 – Directors, producers, authors, actors etc. selected for the final phase of the Festival are responsible for travel, accommodation and all other expenses, unless otherwise decided at the discretion of the Festival organization;
16 – The Festival reserves the right to modify film screening programs due to force majeure beyond it’s control;
17 – Submissions of a short film (fiction, documentary, animation) or a musical video (including animated films) constitutes acceptance of the terms of the Festival Regulation, including a declaration of authenticity of the submitted material and ownership of all related rights;

18 – Submitting your work to the festival implies acceptance of all the rules set out above.
